A causal model of radiating stellar collapse
نویسندگان
چکیده
We find a simple exact model of radiating stellar collapse, with a shear-free and non-accelerating interior matched to a Vaidya exterior. The heat flux is subject to causal thermodynamics, leading to self-consistent determination of the temperature T . We solve for T exactly when the mean collision time τc is constant, and perturbatively in a more realistic case of variable τc. Causal thermodynamics predicts temperature behaviour that can differ significantly from the predictions of non-causal theory. In particular, the causal theory gives a higher central temperature and greater temperature gradient. PACS numbers: 0440, 4775, 9530, 9760

Causal temperature profiles in horizon - free collapse
The Cosmic Censorship Conjecture has continued to occupy center stage within the realms of relativistic astrophysics. The final outcome of the gravitational collapse of a star is still very much open to debate with the discovery of models admitting naked singularities.1,2 Various scenarios of gravitational collapse have been considered in which the energy momentum tensor is taken to be either a...
متن کاملRadiating spherical collapse with heat flow
We present here a simple model of radiative gravitational collapse with radial heat flux which describes qualitatively the stages close to the formation of a superdense cold star. Starting with a static general solution for a cold star, the model can generate solutions for the earlier evolutionary stages. The temporal evolution of the model is specified by solving the junction conditions approp...
متن کاملGravitational Collapse of a Radiating Shell
We study the collapse of a self-gravitating and radiating shell. Matter constituting the shell is quantized and the construction is viewed as a semiclassical model of possible black hole formation. It is shown that the shell internal degrees of freedom are excited by the quantum non-adiabaticity of the collapse and, consequently, on coupling them to a massless scalar field, the collapsing matte...
متن کاملThe effect of variation of stellar dispersion velocities by the galactic latitude in interpreting gravitational microlensing observations
Our galaxy is a spiral galaxy and its stars are mostly in a thin disk and rotate around the galactic center. The vertical component of the dispersion velocity of stars is a function of the galactic latitude and decreases with increasing it. In the galactic Besancon model, this dependence is ignored and they just consider the dependence of dispersion velocity on the stellar age. Becanson model i...
متن کاملA Riccati equation in radiative stellar collapse
We model the behaviour of a relativistic spherically symmetric shearing fluid undergoing gravitational collapse with heat flux. It is demonstrated that the governing equation for the gravitational behaviour is a Riccati equation. We show that the Riccati equation admits two classes of new solutions in closed form. We regain particular models, obtained in previous investigations, as special case...
